About New Brunswick
New Brunswick is a city in Middlesex County and is known as "the hub city". It is the home of the State University Rutgers and independent labels Ferret Records and Don Giovanni Records. The city got it's name after the city of Braunschweig (called Brunswick in Low German language), in State of Lower Saxony, in Germany.
New Brunswick is known for it's ethnic diversity which makes the city full of life and always has something going on. New Brunswick has a whole range of exciting things to do. They have George Street Playhouse and the State theatre, where you can go to enjoy a nice play or musical. If you like art, the city has an art gallery called Alfa Art Gallery that is located downtown. It is also available for events and programs.
The city also has a ton of diverse restaurants and pubs. If you like music, it has been home to many original rock bands, such as The Smithereens and Bon Jovi, as well as local punk rock and underground music. The rock bar Court Tavern, is known for giving live rock, punk and metal bands a professional place to perform, where The Flaming Lips, Superchunk and others went on to a successful recording career. There is also Budapest and Patrixx (which is one of the original alternative rock clubs in town) where many other bands local and well-known have played. Other big bands to take off from New Brunswick local bars include "The Gaslight Anthem" and "Streetlight Manifesto".
If you'd like to sit down for a quiet fine dining meal the town has The Frog and The Peach. It has a great selection of wine that you can match to your meal. It's one of Garden State's premier dining venues and was recently named NJ's best "All Around" restaurant for "it's impressive New American cuisine". Also, it was rated fourth most popular restaurant in the state by Zagat Survey. Stage Left is another great upscale restaurant with an incredible selection of wine. Their private dining rooms and rustic wine cellar is perfect for business or romance. They have also been rated 4 stars.
